Drop Off and Pick Up |
The children should be brought to and collected from the girls’ changing room by the door into the school. Boys can use the boys’ changing room at the other end of the corridor. One of the coaches will collect the children and deliver them back at the start and finish of each class; please do not wait in the corridor outside the gym. Children must be brought into the school and you must wait with them until the class starts (or leave them in the charge of another parent/carer), and also come into the school to meet them after the class. Children should not be dropped off to come in on their own, and should not leave the building unattended. We are only responsible for the children from when they pass into our care until they have been collected. |
Dress |
We ask that children come into the class in suitable clothing. Boys should wear shorts and t-shirt; a leotard for girls is preferable, but shorts and t-shirt are also acceptable. The children should always have with them suitable track-suit trousers and top (not flapping round their feet, and no zips, straps, etc.). No jewellery, watches, etc., may be worn in the gym. Those with newly-pierced ears should cover the studs with micropore or similar tape. Hair should be neatly pinned and/or tied back off the face with soft hairbands or scrunchies and flat sprung slides. Hairspray can be useful. A bag in which shoes, coats, etc., can be kept must be provided. This can be left in the changing room, though children should bring their drink, and any valuables into the gym with them. Shoes and socks will be removed for gym; verruca socks should however be worn if needed. |
Food and Drink |
On no account should children eat or chew gum during the class. It is a good idea for children to have a still drink, preferably water, with them; there is still water for sale at 50p a bottle. Small snacks are also available for sale at 20p and 30p each, in the corridor by the gym, for eating after the class. Please make sure your child knows that these must be paid for; we operate an honesty box for paying, and the club cannot afford to end up being out of pocket! |
First Aid |
All the club coaches have up-to-date first aid training. We keep a basic first aid kit to hand. If your child needs his or her own medication, e.g. inhaler, please make sure they have it with them. In the gym, the children will be under the supervision and authority of the qualified coaches. They should obey the coaches at all times. It is also very important that parents and carers follow the coaches’ instructions. Safety in the gym is of the utmost importance. |
